2021 Update

Joslin has employed a 'Sustainability Coordinator' within the Head Office team to improve environmental compliance, social compliance, inclusivity and diversity across the business.
In April 2021, we will update our 2021 Sustainability Plan and 2021 Supplier Code of Conduct.

Supplier Code Of Conduct

As Joslin's business continues to grow, we recognise the importance of being proactive to support the rights of those involved in the manufacture of our garments, and striving for further transparency in the supply chain. This includes, most importantly further control, transparency and management of our TIER 2 and TIER 3 suppliers.

Country Of Manufacture

At Joslin, we have long standing relationships and very close friendships with our wonderful manufacturing partners and suppliers. Our garments have complicated construction and detailing, thus working with makers in the PRC provides Joslin with the best quality, most up-to-date technology and direct access to raw materials. Our factories and textile mills are located closely in proximity, reducing Joslin's carbon footprint and the embodied energy of materials used in the manufacture of our products.

We are committed to reducing the impacts of global warming and our carbon footprint as a consumer goods business, thus we work tirelessly towards the continuous improvement of environmental conditions and social compliance in the PRC.

Ensuring certification, traceability, authenticity, bi-yearly audits and quarterly visits (pre COVID-19) has improved environmental conditions and social compliance within our manufacturing and supply chains, and in extension, improved social awareness.

*We do our very best and we pay premium costs for our products to ensure (to our best knowledge) that everyone is paid correctly down the supply chain.
However, due to the complex nature of Joslin's supply chain and the procedures of the Fashion Industry in a wider perspective, it is not always possible for the team to monitor and control the conditions of each individual involved in the production of Joslin products.

Joslin's Manufacturing Journey

Joslin has always maintained a commitment to producing the best possible product for their consumer. With a design profile rooted in ornate detail and immaculate construction, we have proudly maintained relationships with some of the best suppliers worldwide. This has stretched Joslin into a global network of expert craftspeople who all lend their hand at producing the amazing product we present with every collection.

At this point, the brand maintains relationships with five TIER 1 suppliers in the PRC. We are committed to ensuring that these facilities pass rigorous ethical and sustainable checkpoints with Amfori BSCI audits bi-yearly.

Our roots in Australia are equally strong, with a dedicated team of thirteen incredible women within the textiles, clothing and apparel sectors, and in extension supporting hundreds of positions of employment within our local supply chain and industry. Maintaining these relationships throughout COVID-19 has been a rewarding challenge. We have seen our brand flourish as a credit to our incredible team. We have every intention of growing this local network and expanding our range to include a collection of products made in partnership with local factories in Australia, this has not yet been possible. Due to a series of historical events ranging as far back as the 1990s, the availability of production facilities in Australia has unfortunately become limited, to the extent that we have not yet found a partner with the technology to produce our garments requiring such high levels of embellishment and detail.

This is not to say that we are not looking; an opportunity has opened for us to make a range of branded t-shirts in partnership with a local factory and textile mill. We hope these working relationships open further doors down the line that will allow us to offer our customers the chance to purchase ready-to-wear from Joslin, produced in Australia and sold at the price and quality that they are accustomed to.

As we look forward to ending 2021 in a different position to how it began, where we can reunite with the amazing people across the world that help make the Joslin dream a reality, we have high hopes for enriched developments in sustainable production, both here in Australia and abroad. At the end of the day, we are so incredibly proud of the product that we are able to present to our customers - a true testament to these relationships!

*We are developing a locally made cut and sew program of branded t-shirts, that is within the technology available here in Australia and our RRP range, and this will launch later in 2021.
